Common Dental Procedures

What are Common Dental Procedures?

Your oral health is important to your smile. Keeping your teeth free of decay and preventing any potential problems is essential to maintaining the best oral health. We’ll be happy to help you develop great hygiene practices, and discuss lifestyle changes which can affect your teeth and gums. Prevention is the best way to be proactive about the health of your mouth, including your gums. Early intervention can eliminate larger complications that require more advanced, and often more costly treatments. Our common dental procedures are the dental services many of our patients find effective, and are the most popular treatments we perform.

Whether it’s a regular cleaning and exam, or a more advanced treatment such as porcelain veneers, we keep you comfortable and relaxed. Your care is our primary concern. Ask us which treatments are right for you, and never hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns regarding your dental common or major dental procedures.

Regular Exams and Cleanings

We offer comprehensive exams and routine professional cleanings, which are an important part of maintaining your oral health and detecting any potential problems. We recommend visiting our office every six months, so we can deep clean, polish, and check your teeth. Our regular exams take about forty-five minutes and include a periodontal exam and thorough inspection of your whole mouth. Our dentists will follow the dental procedures code list which is suitable for your personal dental needs.

Here at J Street Dental Group, we provide a wide range of uncommon dental procedures as well.

Bonding at J Street Dental
Bonding

Composite bonding is an easy way to repair tiny imperfections in your teeth, such as chips, discolorations, and misshapen teeth. We use tooth-colored composite material, which bonds to your teeth to repair the minor issues. The same material can be used in place of silver amalgam for dental fillings as well.

Bonding is less costly than other cosmetic treatments, and often takes only a single visit. However, it’s important to note that cosmetic bonding is less durable than other cosmetic options, such as dental veneers.

Bridges at J Street Dental
Bridges

A dental bridge is an option to replace a series of missing teeth, using prosthetic teeth anchored by crowns bonded to healthy teeth on each side of the gap. First, we’ll check the health of your gums and teeth to ensure you can support a bridge restoration. Bridges can be made of gold, porcelain, alloy metals, or a combination of these materials.

Crowns at J Street Dental Group
Crowns

Teeth that have been damaged due to endodontic therapy, excess wear, or significant decay may benefit from a crown restoration. Dental crowns are a “cap” that fits over the surface of the tooth above the gum line, and thanks to our CEREC technology, you can have the restoration the same-day. Crowns are durable and look like your natural teeth.

Fillings at J Street Dental Group
Fillings

Fillings are the most common dental restoration, and repair areas of the tooth affected by decay. Fillings can be made of composite material, porcelain or amalgam. The process is simple and can be completed in a single visit. After decay is removed, the cavity is cleaned and prepared for the filling, which is durable and comfortable.

Flouride Pediatric at J Street Dental Group
Flouride

Fluoride helps to prevent cavities, ward off decay, and prevents plaque build-up. It also restores essential minerals to the enamel of the teeth. A fluoride treatment is quick and takes only minutes in the office. After receiving fluoride, you shouldn’t eat or drink for at least thirty minutes, to give the teeth time to absorb the treatment.

Implant Restoration

Replacing missing teeth is important for your dental health. Dental implants are a natural, lasting replacement which maintains the health of your mouth. This is one of the most important, beneficial, and valuable operation of the common dental procedures. We restore dental implants after the post has been placed by a specialist. We’ll create a tooth colored crown to cement to the implant post, which acts as a root, restoring your natural smile.

Mouthguards at J Street Dental Group
Mouthguards

Mouthguards are an effective way to protect your teeth and gums from injury during activity. The American Dental Association recommends any athlete who plays a full-contact sport should wear a mouthguard. We offer custom-fit mouthguards that are comfortable, easy to clean, and durable.

Nightguards

Do you suffer from bruxism, known as nighttime grinding? Grinding your teeth while you sleep can cause jaw pain, earaches, headaches, and unnecessary wear to your teeth. We suggest a custom-fit night guard which will protect your teeth while you rest.

Sealants

Cleaning the tight spots between your teeth, or brushing the hard to reach areas of your mouth isn’t easy. Sealants are one of the most common dental procedures which offer another layer of protection against decay, and are often applied to children’s teeth once the permanent set have erupted. When a sealant is applied to a tooth, plastic resin fills the grooves on the surface of the tooth, smoothing them out and making them less susceptible to plaque buildup.

Dental Veneers: What You Need to Know
Veneers

Dental veneers are thin sheets of porcelain that are bonded to the surface of the tooth and perfect your smile. Veneers are a cosmetic solution for cracks, chips, discolorations, and irregularly shaped teeth. For more information about dental veneers, visit our Veneers Page.

Please, don’t hesitate to call our office for a full list of dental procedures and prices, even if you don’t have dental insurance.
